Thrift store shopping! Woo Hoo!

So today I was on a mission. I went to our thrift store to find wooden picture frames to make Montessori dressing frames. I found 6 for around $10.00 total. Now all I have to do is dig through clothes to staple to the frames that Aidan can zip, button, snap, etc. I also found a small shelf to put in the dining room to house his and Ashlyn's materials. Of course I couldn't leave without getting a few books. I found several that were good. For myself, I picked up a HeadStart teacher manual for less than a dollar, a relatively recent copy of a college textbook on Kiddie Lit, that came with a CD rom of a list of quality children's books from birth to age 8. For Ashlyn, I got a nice boardbook copy of Goodnight Moon and I can't remember for the life of me what I got Aidan, but rest assured, he did not go without.

On the way home, I stopped by the dollar store and picked up a few more goodies, red, blue and yellow squirt bottles. If it is nice outside tomorrow we will go out and paint with them. I have hopes of putting out a long piece of white butcher paper, filling the bottles with corresponding paint colors and water and letting him go to town. They also carried birdseed at the dollar store so I got a large back of whole sunflower seeds to put into his sand/water (sensory) table. Hopefully, I will get pictures up when we do our activities!
Oh yeah, the pictures at the top are photos of our first homeschooling attempts. Aidan was matching laminated paint chips, Ashie is checking out measuring cups and the other photo is outside on our screened in porch, I set out bowls of deer corn and dried peas for some sensory play. Aidan LOVES to play with "the beans, mama!"

I have my husband back!

Yes, tax season is officially over and I have my husband back! Very excited about this. I woke up to a scathing eye infection and I was actually able to go to the Dr. because he was home!! He spent the day with A. They went to the airport and the train station. Both of their loves. Trains and Airplanes. Ashie and I hit Hobby Lobby with mom. So the boys did their thing and the girls did theirs...gonna go research making more Montessori stuff for my babies...

Testing, testing, 1,2,3...

Just trying to figure out this blogging stuff. This is A trying to pick up fuzzy craft balls from a container and match them to a cup by it's color. He has to use tweezers to pick up each fuzzy ball. The activity is supposed to help with color recognition and help to develop his fine motor skills.
